Sattva

Sattva is a Sanskrit word meaning – The radiance of your real nature. It is also used as an adjective (Sattvic) to characterize, qualify, or reference a broader category of – All that gives way to the higher qualities of health, wellness, goodness, truth, peace, harmony, balance, love, kindness, and all the noble virtues.

Sattva represents the wholesome qualities, practices, guideposts, and pointers common to many of the world’s long-standing healing, spiritual or wisdom traditions which have aided humans towards healing and being their best self.

Every tradition of the world speaks of the import of living out of our better or higher nature. While some religions or philosophies are (more, or less) helpful to get us there, we all internally recognize our deep inner call to heal and be our best self.

In the East there is a saying:

“There are hundreds of paths up the mountain, all leading in the same direction. So it doesn’t matter which path you take. The only one wasting time is the one who runs around and around the mountain, telling everyone that his or her path is wrong.”

We have so much wisdom from the world’s many traditions, which, though seen through a different structure or prism, or stated in a different frame or language, in meaning and intention, are the same.

We have so much more in common than we have that is different.

Any genuinely good guide, teacher, or structure will never teach one to judge others, nor diminish other’s paths so that we can feel better-than, or special. Nor will they ask you to idolize or worship them.

But rather, they will teach you how to be deeply honest with yourself, on every level (especially the subconscious level where many dubious, unclear, hidden, or mixed motivations are seen), so we can get down to looking at the truth of what we have become in our mind (thinking and beliefs), nature (qualities, attitudes and judgments), and habits (repetitive tendencies and behaviors), and help guide us towards true healing – restoring the natural innate Sattvic (higher)qualities, and re-turning to, experiencing, and merging with the innermost sourceLight.

This naturally involves taming the busy, confused, self-centered ego/mind/personality, and all its big opinions, desires, hurts, laments, bitterness, hostilities, fears, attachments, and lower tendencies … so we can be truly open, receptive, and unfettered enough to receive higher guidance, and become as One with the higher Ideal – by whatever name you have come to call That…

And it doesn’t matter what name you like to call It. It is beyond all names and forms. And all names and forms are in Its purveyance. It knows when one is reaching for It.

This process is known by many names in different cultures, practices, and religions. Some call this process true healing, enlightenment, union, freedom or liberation, self-realization, salvation, returning to our source or true nature, or simply –

The natural state

All these words are pointing to the same thing – What is before and beyond all words and concepts.

This is a universally wholly shared  Origin, of which everyone and everything is a part, of which everyone and everything is included, and belongs to. It is not exclusive of, or special to, anyone, nor any religion or philosophy.

Through the human existence we have all come to hold many kinds of arrogant, ignorant, hurtful, limiting or mistaken beliefs, thoughts, attitudes, and definitions. So, we can rightly approach the journey with an open and deeply humble mind and heart.

That is the best way IN.

If there is a sincere desire and intention to know deeper Truth, to heal and make things right, and you are willing to change and give your time and energy to this process, you can be certain that your readiness and sincerity will be seen and heard… and all manner of help will come to you through the point where you are in your understanding, and in the language and structure that you can understand.

Hard mindsets, fanaticism, and heavy sectarianism are a hindrance. So, hold on loosely to beliefs and methods – in favor of letting them gently guide you towards the goal.

Divisive beliefs, structures, or paradigms (old age or new age) ultimately do not support the goal.

What works well for one, may not work so well for another.

And what works well for you at the beginning of your journey may not work so well (or may come to feel incomplete or limiting) as you heal and evolve in your self-understanding.

Let go, when it’s time to let go.

The greatest most renowned teachers from all traditions will tell you that all philosophies, religions, methods, and belief systems in their highest possible use are meant to be like ladders that help us return to our Source, the innermost essence, or original nature; and however helpful they once were, when the destination is reached, they are no longer needed.

Deeper or bigger Truths transcend all human religions, concepts, beliefs and ideas, and we must be willing to do that too, in order to fully embody our highest potential. But we can love and be grateful for the help and support they provided us to get there.

The natural Nature of Life, and all we may perceive as the good, the bad, and everything in-between, ever draws us towards bettering … towards more awareness and understanding. This is why hard mindsets are a hindrance; they go against Nature.

Evolution, or enlightenment, is a natural primal quality and call to all of life.

There is nothing to get. Everyone is already in it, and always already in it.

If we become too entrenched in polarizing, sectarian, or big staunchly-held opinions, we leave little room for the greater Intelligence in Life to correct our errors, and inspire our healing, learning, and understanding.

Everyone we meet has something to teach us.

When one comes to ripen enough to wholly desire to know the deeper truths of their self-existence and abide in That alone, they become a true seeker.

This necessarily means they acknowledge that they do not know. And this necessarily means they are willing to relinquish any or all of their heretofore formed opinions and beliefs if they prove to be not so true…

In this right attitude, there will be a profound quickening of this process, which will lead them there.

When that intrinsically natural process of “enlightenment”, “self-realization”, “union” or “salvation” heartily unfolds, it becomes quite clear that nothing this world has to offer can contain that Understanding.

In That, there is “the Peace that surpasses understanding”.  It is no longer possible to see self or anyone else as separate or apart from this Light of all being.

With That, the learned obnoxious egocentric compulsive tendency to distinguish or differentiate our self out from others – is silenced.

So too, the many various mind-embedded network of deep-seated fears, wounds, old programming, and limiting or erroneous beliefs most happily, and effortlessly, give in to this greater Knowing-Light-Awareness.

In this Light, things are set right, and healing and understanding ensues. We are unhinged from the sticky binding grips of our illusions, and the distortion, turmoil and weightiness contained therein  …. finally.

From there, the natural benevolence, the natural state or nature (the Light within) returns to the fore, where it belongs. In acquiescence, the ego fades and recedes to the rear, where it belongs, setting in motion the unfolding of our deeper self/soul’s true healing, and highest good…. and the human life can flow in its most natural and helpful demeanor – sharing love, peace, kindness and help to everyone it touches.

Everyone has this inner Light in their own heart; their original essence, true nature, origin, or source. It is in all and everywhere (omnipresent). It is the primordial light, power, and intelligence (omniscience) in existence; ever-near, and ever-flowing through the deeper (more quiet) knowing and nudging’s of our conscience, or consciousness.

We have every reason to trust That.

With sincere good-natured intentions, we cannot fail. So be happy to follow the path of healing that feels right in your own heart, and give others the same validity.

The call for us all to join now, in the spirit of peace and goodwill, to correct our errors and imbalances, make things right, heal, and return to our better nature, has never been louder.

We can only do this together. We cannot heal our world without healing ourselves. We cannot really help others meaningfully until we heal ourselves and come to see things in a clearer Light.
